The new Edubuntu 14.04.2 Amd64 DVD, does not represent an entirely new release, but rather a minor update to the 14.04 branch. The new images contain additional hardware support and bug fixes over the original 14.04 release. A full list of improvements available in 14.04.2 is provided in the changes summary. this point release contains an updated kernel and X stack for new installations to support new hardware.

The aim is that an educator with limited technical knowledge and skill will be able to set up a computer lab, or establish an on-line learning environment, in an hour or less, and then administer that environment without having to become a fully-fledged Linux geek.
